Christmas is the celebration of Christ's birth about 2000 years ago. It is part of the Christmas circle of religious (and secular) customs, beginning with the first Advent Sunday (the beginning of the church year) ending on February 2 (Maria Lichtmeß). Today the actual festivity lasts for three days, from December 24 until December 26.
